As the days get shorter and the sunshine starts to fade don’t think it’s all doom and gloom yet inject some colour into your garden with late flowering plants, leaf colour and berries.

This is the time to be preparing your garden for winter. Tidy up your borders, dig up you annuals and fill in gaps with evergreens. Try Euonymus fortunei ‘Emerald Gaiety’, the more you have the better your garden will look in the winter. This is also a good time to cut back or divide your perennials. Once your beds and borders are neat and tidy spread a thick layer of compost, bark chip or manure across them which will provide the plants with well-needed nutrients – don’t worry about digging it in let the worms do that for you.
